This year my picks range from 1929 (Pandora’s Box), to 1977 (That Obscure Object of Desire). While last year I had some let downs with my picks, I’m fairly confident I’ll like all the films I chose this year. Theres’s a couple of great pre-codes, some Bette Davis, a mean Burt Lancaster, some Kirk Douglas (he really wowed me in Paths of Glory), even a bit of Rock Hudson because I really haven’t seen enough from him.
There’s a Natalie Wood + Elia Kazan pairing, the classic My Fair Lady (no, I haven’t seen it yet! 🙈), plus what I expect will be the perfect duo (Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum?!), and two modern classics from the 70s, directed by Coppola and Buñuel. The only thing really missing is a Cary Grant movie, but then I guess I’ve already seen all his good ones, oops.

I’ve seen five of these films. I hope you enjoy these films. One of which was a Blind Spot I did back in 2014 I think in Pandora’s Box.
Very excited for Pandora’s Box, hope I like these movies too! Thanks 🙂
Oh I love the banners! I just replaced the two Blind Spot posts I have scheduled with them.
I haven’t seen any of your list this year, but I have seen Splendor in the Grass on stage. I hope you love them all!
Thank you! Not one? I feel better now 😂 Hope so, too!
Great list- I wanna see My Fair Lady and Splendor in the grass, too!
I’m in 🙂 I’ll posting my list this week. Can I use just one of the banners? 😀 Thanks!
Yay!! So happy you’re participating! I’ll look out for that post ☺️
Yes, of course – I made two versions so you guys could pick your favourite! ✨
Thanks! Here’s my final post: https://geekteller.com/index.php/2019/01/09/blind-spot-series-2019/
Your banners are gorgeous! I just threw one together for my first post but I’ll be using yours when I post my first review. Thanks so much for hosting and I’m really looking forward to taking part this year!
These are my choices: https://oftenofftopic.wordpress.com/2018/12/29/2019-blind-spot-movie-list/
Thanks, Allie! Use them however you want ☺️
I’m excited you’re taking part, good luck!! I’ll check out your picks right now 😀
You’ve added some really awesome movies to your list this year (especially Shanghai Express, Splendor In the Grass, and Cape Fear). I’m conflicted when it comes to Pandora’s Box. I know it’s a revered classic but I’ve tried to watch it several times before and it just never held my attention. I’d always find myself zoning out after about 30 min, so I’m curious to see what you think of it.
I’m excited for those! I love Dietrich, and I’ve been in a real Natalie Wood mood. And to have Peck AND Mitchum in the same movie? Can’t wait for that! 😍
I hope I like Pandora’s Box, it does look intriguing. But I haven’t watched any scenes so I have no idea, really!
Wow, this could be my list since I haven’t seen any of these. Hopefully, they’re all good ones. That said, none of these are actually on my list, but yes, I am back for another year!
SO glad you’re back Wendell, thanks for participating!! I hope they’re good ones, too – I’ll check out your list. Good luck!
I admire you guys doing it so much! I can never find the discipline to watch one classic movie a month
It’s not easy, I find it so hard…! But being responsible for the event helps, I mean… it would be embarrassing 😂
I definitely plan to participate this year though I haven’t done a list yet. It’s such a great excuse to finally watch these movies! I hope everyone enjoys their picks!
I’m checking out your list right now, Gemma! Thank you for participating ☺️
Nice banners! Hope you have a great year of Blindspot movies!
Thanks, Katy! You should participate, it would be fun! 😘
This challenge seems brilliant, I am taking part (even if I am starting a bit late)! My list is here: http://www.flickandfika.com/blindspot2019
Awesome, I’m so happy that you’re participating! 🤗 One of your picks is possibly my favourite movie of all-time, In The Mood For Love!!
Let me know when you post your January pick and I’ll add you to this post: https://www.returningvideotapes.com/blind-spot-series/that-obscure-object-of-desire-1977/
Good luck!!
Great list! I’ve seen all of them except That Obscure Object of Desire and with that one I’ve always meant to but it has eluded me. I’ll go on the hunt now that its back on my radar.
I wasn’t a fan of The Conversation but I should probably revisit it, it has been years. Otherwise all are fine films that I have various levels of affection for. I LOVE Now, Voyager & All That Heaven Allows whereas I respect the artistry of The Days of Wine and Roses but it was too dark and nihilist in tone for me to ever say I liked it-loaded with brilliant performances and I do love the theme song however. The others fall somewhere in between those two marks. Looking forward to reading your reactions of them.
Ooooh there’s a Bobby Darin cover I LOVE called The Days of Wine and Roses, is that the actual theme song of the film? Performed by someone else, maybe.
I’ve very excited for Now, Voyager. All That Heaven Allows is my pick for this month! I’m so looking forward to it, very happy you love both of them.
Yes that’s the theme song of the film. It’s a choral arrangement over the film’s credits but the two people who had the most successful versions are Billy Ekstine and Andy Williams however its been recorded by a slew of artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Dexter Gordon.
Oh yea! Can’t wait to read what you think of All That Heaven Allows!
Those are some great picks. I really hope you enjoy them all. Days of Wine and Roses, The Conversation, and That Obscure Object of Desire are three of my favorites. It’s crazy that Coppola made The Conversation and The Godfather Part II in the same year. They couldn’t be more different.
The only ones I have seen are Cape Fear and My Fair Lady(Both are great by the way) I am horrible at committing to a blind spot list so I cant promise that I will participate. looking forward to your thoughts
